S03E02 - Son of Monsterpalooza 2025
This Halloween episode of Califorgilicious felt like a full-circle moment for me — recorded right here in Hollywood, on Halloween week. I’ve always loved this season, ever since I was a kid glued to Tales from the Crypt and They Live. So being in LA, surrounded by people who take Halloween seriously, felt like a dream finally materialized in neon and fog.
This episode was my first dive into the convention world — Son of Monsterpalooza 2025 in Burbank. I had no idea what to expect, and it turned out to be incredible: equal parts freak show, museum, and church of horror. I got to meet some amazing artists like Rick Kitagawa, who ran The Oracle installation and co-created Sketchbook Split of Doom with Mr. Banana Pants — a hilarious, twisted little art piece that mixes comics, darkness, and humor. I also met Rayna Terror, whose work literally blew my mind — she paints horror icons onto weapons (yes, weapons!) with such talent and style. You can find her at @rayna_terror or horrorweapons.com.
